It is a nice activity book, but was hoping for a more concrete geography focus. My son really enjoys reading maps - I was hoping to build on that interest. School work that he has enjoyed are maps with a compass that will say "find the pond to the north of the forest" or "draw a route through the prairie that goes east to west."This book has some interesting activities - but it is more about exploring different countries and cultures. For example, "Imagine that you are climbing Mount Everest, draw some things you might need on your trip" or "design and color a pattern for a kimono" or " in Thailand, goods are sometimes sold directly out of boats. Draw what a floating market might look like." All of these ideas are fun, but not really "map" related activities.
My kids are having great fun with this book as well as learning a lot. I think it would NOT work nearly so well without the Maps book though, so definitely get that one also/first. You could use the activity book without Maps, but then some of the pages would turn into research projects (ex. draw sports or musical instruments played in a list of countries) which would take away some of the fun. Maps is full of cute drawings of musical instruments, games, sports, animals, food, landmarks, etc so it's easy to look those up in one place to use this book.
To help an elementary student learn about the world, this Maps Activity Book offers options connected to labeling, reading, drawing, and coloring. It works best to have regular discussion with the young students working to complete the pages.
it's ok. if you are on a tight budget, maybe save your money..its a little expensive for what it is. Maps is a treasure. This is just OK.
I love the book, just wish that it went with the Maps book better- or was organized better. My kids love it and the illustrations are amaZing!
This book is absolutely AMAZING !!!! I cannot stress enough how much I love and am satisfied with this book . Its HUGE and the pictures and content are just lovely , every single page is to die for .
Worth the price. My kids have a computer game that builds a zoo. We use this to find animals. Very good reference. I was surprised how much our family use this.
Beautiful but too much for my little grandkids right now.
